Another day, another comical bias outrage from Noel Sheppard.
In an August 13 lecture, the NewsBusters associate editor threw his usual “liberal media” hissy fit because someone had the nerve to read a liberal blog… and live on air, too *GASP*:
While filling in for Anderson Cooper, O’Brien was actually caught on screen looking at an article from the far-left website Talking Points Memo to assist her in a heated debate with Romney campaign senior adviser Barbara Comstock
What she’s reading from is a TPM article titled “The Myth Of Paul Ryan The Bipartisan Leader” published Monday at 6:08 PM only a few hours before this program started.
Sheppard then quoted a couple portions of the article, complaining that “[i]nside the piece was the very quote from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Or.) that O’Brien read to her guest“.
Mind you, Sheppard doesn’t attempt to debunk anything in the article or fault O’Brien for reading something incorrect or untrue. She simply quoted Senator Wyden’s response to Paul Ryan, who accused the Republican congressman for mischaracterizing their bipartisan work together on a Medicare proposal in late 2011. In fact, Sheppard cited this portion of the piece, as well.
So, once again: O’Brien didn’t make a factual mistake or read something incorrect. Her crime was reading a liberal blog. Strangely enough, Sheppard doesn’t have an issue with the “liberal media” when they cite a conservative blog.
In an article from July of this year, reporting on supposed rumors from the Drudge Report that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is being considered as a potential VP candidate, an ABC News columnist graced the headline “Drudge Report Lists Condi Rice as Top Romney VP Candidate“. That doesn’t include all the networks who cited the rumors Drudge broke, either. By the way, the rumors ended up being completely fruitless when Secretary Rice, herself, shot down any interest in being Romney’s VP.
What’s that, Noel? *crickets*
Sheppard concludes his piece whining:
So, a CNN anchor with her own daily program used a far-left website for her show prep before talking to a Republican guest.
Do you need any more evidence of just how far to the left the self-described “most trusted name in news” is or why its ratings continue to tank?
So, that’s why CNN’s ratings are tanking… because the beady-eyed Noel Sheppard just happened to catch one of their anchors reading an article from a liberal blog accurately quoting a politician, and factually analyzing the lack of bipartisanship the latest Republican VP pick has shown during his time in Congress.
The truth doesn’t matter to Sheppard, though… just as long as a liberal blog is never cited by the media, because it shows bias, regardless of how factual the content of the article is.
