When it’s time to come up with cheesy headlines to attract the reader, you can expect the Associate editor at NewsBusters’ to be the master of the art form.
So what did this mean for Sheppard and his storied history at NewsBusters? Self-promotion time!
He prefaced the reliving of his past articles, and their grade school headlines, by getting readers ready for what’s coming:
In said role, Will has regularly entertained conservatives by smacking down liberals.
Here are some of my recent favorites [...]
He followed that with his favorites list (underlined portions of blue, green, and brown, are phrases used repeatedly):
Of the 17 articles Sheppard promoted (with his trademark headlines), 7 of them used “schools“, 3 used “smack[s] down“, 2 used “make[s] a fool of“, and the remaining 5 were an assortment of other words and phrases.
The amazing part is that Sheppard thinks he’s so clever and hip by using all these schoolyard adjectives, especially when he finishes off the piece by emphasizing his two favorite words:
Makes you wonder with the superior intellect of Fox’s liberal contributors if Will is going to have folks to “school” and “smack down.”
With this list, all Sheppard does is remind everyone how he’s the equivalent of a 5-year old, who happens to be stuck in a grown mans body. In these instances, you can always tell when someone is trying too hard at something, and failing… luckily, Noel Sheppard is the best in that department, and takes pride in it.
Nobody should expect these headlines to go away, and those of us who monitor the absurdities at NewsBusters hope they don’t, because they only continue to deliver more comedic relief.
It’s safe to say that NewsBusters has never had a shortage of comedy… and that doesn’t mean we’re laughing with them, but laughing at them.
